QUEBEC LUXURY
The Renaissance fireplace brand is produced by the Quebec-based company ICC. This 11,148 m2 (120,000 ft2 ) company operates 24 hours a day, year round, employing more than 200 local people. Located in Saint-Jérôme, ICC has been manufacturing heating products since 1991. These people are truly passionate about the industry and, by combining all their know-how, have created innovative and ecological technologies. Indeed, Renaissance appliances are the quintessential decorative fireplaces. With their remarkable aesthetics and their imposing flames, one might think that they are only distinguished by their appearance. However, Renaissance fireplaces have an unparalleled ecological ingenuity that is waiting to be discovered.
AESTHETICS RENAISSANCE
Renaissance fireplaces were born from a very specific idea: “How to obtain the elegance of traditional masonry fireplaces without the complexity of their construction, while integrating modern technologies of energy and environmental performance.”
Based on the concept of Rumford fireplaces dating back to the Renaissance, the Quebec company developed a concept that would turn heads. The Rumford 1000 was the first open-door fireplace in the world. It is still the only one to this day. And it has received an award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The authentic design of a Rumford-style fireplace and a prefabricated firebox incorporating modern technologies and high-quality materials results in high-performance combined with elegance.
Since the first Rumford, the Renaissance line has evolved into many styles while maintaining the same focus on flame beauty and energy efficiency. Combining technologies such as the integrated guillotine door and screen and the heat recovery system, these wood-burning fireplaces are a real beauty.
WOODBURNING RENAISSANCE
TOP PERFORMANCE
Ambiance or decorative fireplaces have the bad reputation of burning their fuel quickly and releasing a lot of particles into the air. However, Renaissance fireplaces are the complete opposite. It is the only brand in the industry to have won the EPA’s Clean Air Excellence Award for environmental performance.
When the door is open, Renaissance fireplaces emit a minimal number of particles. Once the door is closed, the results are exponentially better. If we take the Rumford 1000 as an example, it emits 3 grams of particles into the atmosphere per kilogram of material burned when the door is open and only 1 gram when it is closed. This is made possible by the tightly sealed glass door, which allows the temperature of the appliance to rise so that more of the particulate matter is converted to energy before being exhausted up the chimney.
CUTTING-EDGE WOOD HEATING
One of the primary concerns in the design of Renaissance fireplaces was to simplify the installation of a masonry craft. Large open doors are usually custom built by craftsmen. However, ICC engineers have created factory prefabricated fireboxes that can be installed in days instead of weeks, at a lower cost. In addition, the fireplaces are designed to be placed directly on wood floors or against drywall. This reduces additional installation costs and construction hassles.
The other common element found on all Renaissance fireplaces is the guillotine door and screen. This innovation allows you to see the fire whether the door is closed or open without changing the aesthetics of the fireplace. In addition, the counterbalanced mechanism ensures that the door will remain open to the desired degree, thus avoiding accidents and potential breakage. Using a masonry fireplace has never been easier.
REINVENTED TRADITION
Each Renaissance model of fireplaces is unique. While all have been designed with the same intention of luxurious beauty and energy efficiency, they all have their own unique engineering and design.
- Rumford 1000 and 1500: rectangular fireplaces in portrait orientation, these are the classic models that recall the style of castles and manors. Inspired by the Rumford style, they offer an unparalleled flame and a majestic design.
- Linear 50: for those who like wall-to-wall fires, but prefer the nobility and feel of wood, this linear model has a combustion chamber designed to feed each log with oxygen for a beautiful full-size fire. The built-in heat redistribution system sends some of the heat above the fireplace.
- Uptown 600: the newest addition to the line, this fireplace incorporates the features of the Renaissance fireplaces in a rectangular shape more suited for contemporary styles that are very present in modern homes and condos today.
