Recently, Quebec government sparked much debate by announcing its intention to ban the use of fossil-based natural gas for heating buildings. While this initiative is part of a commendable effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, it comes with some questions and concerns that deserve special attention. In Canada, all gas appliances on the market must undergo an energy efficiency test. This was established by the CSA (Canadian Standards Association). It is more commonly referred to as the P.4 test. This has been in place since 2003 and makes it easier for Canadian consumers to compare different gas fireplace models. You will recognize it by the EnerGuide label.
